ABSTRACT:
A water soluble machining fluid for use in cutting, grinding, etc. of metal materials. This machining fluid comprises 5-20 parts by weight of either an erythritol fatty acid ester or a glycerol fatty acid ester, 3-15 parts by weight of a sorbitan fatty acid ester, 3-15 parts by weight of an alkylolamide of fatty acid, 3-10 parts by weight of propylene glycol, 1-5 parts by weight of a chelating agent, 0.5-3 parts by weight of a fluorine-containing surface-active agent which is preferably a perfluoro compound, and a suitable amount of water. This machining fluid is high in the lubricating and rust-inhibiting ability, is harmless to the human body and is very low in COD value.
