ABSTRACT:
This invention provides lubricant mixtures for use as base fluid in open-gear grease comprising 10% to 90% w of a liquid polybutene having a viscosity at 38.degree. C. in the range of 1,000 to 20,000 mm.sup.2 /s and a viscosity at 100.degree. C. in the range of 40 to 500 mm.sup.2 /s, and 10% to 90% of a liquid polyalphaolefin having a viscosity at 38.degree. C. in the range of 10 to 75 mm.sup.2 /s and a viscosity at 100.degree. C. in the range of 2 to 15 mm.sup.2 /s, and open-gear grease compositions containing a major proportion of such lubricant mixtures.
