ABSTRACT:
A lubricant for food, beer or beverage container and container component stock is provided containing, as a conductivity enhancing additive, a phospholipid having a structure of Formula (I):wherein R1and R2are fully saturated fatty acyl radicals derived from saturated fatty acids containing from about 10 to 22 carbon atoms; and R3is selected from the group consisting of choline, salts and mono-salts of Group I and II metals and fatty acid neutralized ethanolamine. Lubricant formulations are also described, comprising 0.5 to 50 wt % fatty acid ester of propylene glycol, 0.5 to 90 wt % petrolatum and 0.5 to 90 wt % mineral white oil. Finally, a lubricant for metalworking is described, containing as a load-bearing additive, a fatty acid monoester of propylene glycol as given by Formula (II):wherein n is from 7 to 21 and in which the acyl moiety is hydrogenated to maximize saturation.
