ABSTRACT:
The present invention provides a lubricant composition comprising a lubricating oil and, as multifunctional additive, at least one compound having the formula I: ##STR1## or amine salts thereof; wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, independently, are hydrogen or methyl; n and m, independently, are 0 or 1; and X is SR.sub.3 or NR.sub.4 R.sub.5 wherein R.sub.3 is C.sub.12 -C.sub.20 linear or branched alkyl R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are independently, C.sub.8 -C.sub.20 linear or branched alkyl provided that those compounds of formula I are excluded in which m and n are each 0, X is S-C.sub.8 -C.sub.20 linear or branched alkyl and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are as defined.
