ABSTRACT:
An internal combustion engine is constructed with metallic parts in its rons which are subjected to high stress (temperature, pressure) during combustion and polymeric materials in its regions which are subjected to relatively lower stresses. The integrated construction helps realize increased power densities and reductions in engine noise without compromising engine performance. V-configuration Diesel engines particularly benefit from this construction.
