ABSTRACT:
A piston comprising hydrodynamic skirts and crowns, pressure-actuated sealing rings of fixed excursion or balanced by hydrodynamic reactions, or no rings at all, stringent temperature control, ample oil on the cylinder wall even near top-dead-center, characterized by absence of abrasion between piston and cylinder and much lower friction, resulting thereby in higher fuel-economy and longer engine-life.
