ABSTRACT:
Textile treating agent for imparting crease resistance is made by mixing 1 mol glyoxal, 2 mols formaldehyde, 1 mol urea and 1.5 mol ethylene glycol and reacting the mixture first at pH 6 to 7 at 60.degree. C. and then at pH 3 at 60.degree.. The product is found to have more stable formaldehyde release properties in textile treating baths as pH of the bath is varied in the range from about 3.0 to about 4.5.
