ABSTRACT:
A latching mechanism provides a locking support for an article which periodically requires to be moved from a rest position to a stable elevated position. The latching mechanism comprises an assembly attached to the article and movable therewith, the assembly containing a guide mechanism which cooperates with a cam pawl device mounted on a fixed assembly. The cam/guide mechanism interaction provides for a 180.degree. cam rotation driving a sequence of article movements from a rest to elevated/locked to rest position.
