ABSTRACT:
Provided is a lithium secondary battery which has a large discharge capacity and good charge-discharge cycle characteristics comprising a negative electrode in which the lithium ion-occlusion material is an amorphous material consisting essentially of B.sub.2 O.sub.3 or an amorphous material consisting essentially of B.sub.2 O.sub.2 and an oxide whose cation-oxygen bond strength is smaller than 335 kJ/mole.
