ABSTRACT:
A liquid-crystal guest-host system has at least two pleochroic dyestuffs. At least one of the dyestuffs has an absorption maximum above 665 nm, and the dyestuffs and their concentrations are selected such that an electro-optical display element containing the liquid-crystal guest-host system shows a color separation .DELTA.E, measured by the CIE (1964) method, to the point of achromatism of less than 5 units. The liquid-crystal guest-host system is useful for electro-optical display elements.
