Disclosed are liquid crystal copolyesters having enhanced heat stability. The copolyesters are prepared from 4-carboxybenzenepropionic acid, a diacyl ester of hydroquinone and a p-acyloxybenzoic acid and contain the following divalent radicals: ##STR1##
