ABSTRACT:
A liquid crystal compound represented by formula (I), ##STR1## wherein A represents --C.sub.3 H.sub.7, --C.sub.4 H.sub.9 or --C.sub.8 H.sub.17 ; when A is --C.sub.3 H.sub.7, m is an integer of 8, 10, 12 or 14; and when A is --C.sub.4 H.sub.9 or --C.sub.8 H.sub.17, m is an integer of 7 to 14,
said compound having an antiferroelectric phase.
