ABSTRACT:
A new tetrastable liquid crystal is provided which is useful for display and switching devices. The liquid crystal has the formula ##STR1## where R.sub.1 is a C.sub.5-18 alkyl group and R.sub.2 is a C.sub.4-15 alkyl group and * is an optically active center.
