ABSTRACT:
A liquid crystal composition having a nematic phase that includes a compound represented by Formula (1), a compound represented by Formulas (2-1) and (2-2), and a compound represented by Formulas (3-1) and (3-2), and a liquid crystal display device containing the composition:wherein, for example, R1is alkenyl having approximately 2 to approximately 12 carbons; R2is alkyl having approximately 1 to approximately 12 carbons; Y1is fluorine or chlorine; Y2is fluorine or trifluoromethoxy; X1and X2are each independently hydrogen or fluorine; and Z1and Z2are each independently a single bond or —CH2CH2—.
