A liquid crystal composition, containing a compound represented by formula (I) and a compound represented by formula (II); and an anisotropic material containing the liquid crystal composition:in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?Q1-SP1-X1-MG-X2-SP2-Q2  Formula (I)in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?wherein, Q1 and Q2 represent a polymerizable group, SP1 and SP2 represent a spacer group, X1 and X2 represent a linking group, MG represents a mesogen group, Ra, Rband Rcrepresent -L1-R1, -L2-R2or —NHR, at least one of Ra, Rband Rcis —NHR, L1and L2represent a single bond or a divalent linking group, R1and R2represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent, and R represents a group having a polymerizable group.
