A liquid crystal composition includes:20 to 50 wt % of compound (A)0 to 20 wt % of compound (B)20 to 50 wt % of compound (C)in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?R3—G3—M1—R4  (C);in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?1 to 15 wt % of compound (D)and5 to 15 wt % of compound (E)wherein G1, G2, G3, G4, G5, G6, M1, and M2are independently phenylene or cyclohexylene; R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, and R7are independently a straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl group having 1 to 7 carbon atoms or an alkenyl group having 2 to 7 carbon atoms, where the alkyl group is optionally substituted and can be replaced with at least one fluorine atom; X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, Y1, and Y2are independently H, F, Cl, CF3, or OCF3; a and b are independently 0, 1 or 2; c is 0 or 1; d is 0 or 1, but c+d≧1; and e is 0, 1 or 2.
