ABSTRACT:
A liquid cooling system for a dynamoelectric machine's rotor winding. Concentrically arranged intake and outtake coolant pipes extend a desired axial distance within a centrally arranged bore in the rotor. Both pipes are joined to a distribution block also disposed in the rotor bore. The distribution block transmits coolant from the intake pipe to arcuately-shaped coolant distribution manifolds through radially-directed pipes and transmits coolant from arcuately-shaped coolant collection manifolds to the outtake pipe through radially-directed pipes. The manifolds are fluidly connected to the rotor winding either by rigid non-conducting tubing having bends therein for permitting thermal expansion thereof or flexible insulation tubing such as Teflon.RTM..
