ABSTRACT:
An ink cartridge1attachable to an ink jet printer, includes a liquid chamber5for accommodating an ink liquid4, a liquid supply port7to be connected to a liquid receiving portion2aon the ink jet printer side, a liquid passage9for causing the liquid chamber5to communicate with the liquid supply port7, and an ink end sensor13forming a part of the liquid passage9and serving to detect a presence or absence of the ink liquid4in the liquid chamber5, The liquid passage9on a downstream of the ink end sensor13is provided with a buffer chamber15capable of storing the ink liquid4to be supplied to the liquid supply port7and supplying the ink liquid in a constant amount after the ink end sensor13detects that the liquid is not present. An amount of storage of the liquid in the buffer chamber15is set to be substantially 10% of an effective amount of the ink liquid to be accommodated in the liquid cartridge1.
