ABSTRACT:
Compounds are disclosed which are useful in a method of treating animals to protect them from the toxic effects of Gram negative endotoxin. They include the diphosphoryl lipid A (DPLA) which can be obtained from R. sphaeroides ATCC 17023 grown at about 26.degree. C.
