ABSTRACT:
Phenylisocyanurate is reacted with ethyl-4-chlorobutyrate in an inert solvent to 25.degree.C. to 150.degree.C. to produce 1,3-bis(3-carbethoxypropyl)-5-phenylisocyanurate. The 1,3-bis(3-carbethoxypropyl)-5-phenylisocyanurate is then heated with a mineral acid to produce 1,3-bis(3-carboxypropyl)-5-phenylisocyanurate. A novel polyester of the formula ##SPC1##
Is made wherein N=3, M is a diol having at least two carbon atoms, and X is a whole number greater than 1 by condensing 1,3-bis(3-carboxypropyl)-5-phenylisocyanurate with a polyol such as 1,6-hexanediol.
