ABSTRACT:
There is provided a linear motor in which the number of armature windings can be reduced, and an armature iron core can be readily fixed to a member for supporting the armature iron core. Each of three inductors1A to1C is so arranged that a tooth row7therein is located on each side thereof in a width direction thereof orthogonal to a moving direction of an armature3. The three inductors are arranged spaced apart from each other by a predetermined spacing in the width direction. An armature iron core9of the armature3includes four magnetic pole portions15A to15D and three yoke portions17A to17, and is constituted by a plurality of electromagnetic steel plates laminated in the moving direction of the armature3. The four magnetic pole portions15A to15D are arranged in parallel and spaced apart from each other by a predetermined spacing so that each of the three inductors1A to1C is positioned within the spacing. Each of permanent magnet rows11A to11F is arranged on an opposed surface21of each magnetic pole portion. The three yoke portions17A to17C extend in the moving direction of the armature3and magnetically couples the adjacent two magnetic pole portions15A and15B,15B and15C, and15C and15D, respectively. Three armature windings13A to13C are wound around the yoke portions17A to17C, respectively.
