ABSTRACT:
It is known to equip military vehicles with acutely angled louvers or slats ounted outboard of the vehicle walls to intercept enemy projectiles before such projectiles reach the vehicle; the louvers are desirably formed of hardened material to exert a fragmentization force on the projectiles. Under the present invention the louvers are specially connected and mounted to reduce weight without sacrificing ballistic effectiveness.
