Nickel amine, nickel aquo, and nickel bis- complexes of 2,2'-thiobis(p-alkylphenol), used to stabilize materials against degradation by ultraviolet radiation, are stabilized against thermal degradation by use of a hydroxyalkylamide of the formula: ##EQU1## wherein R.sub.1 is alkyl or aryl;
