ABSTRACT:
To position dry transfer lettering paper with respect to a document to be lettered, a lettering guide includes: (1) a platen having a flat document-mounting surface with guide flaps overlapping the surface; (2) a slide positioned between the flaps; and (3) self-adjusting mounting tracks on each end of the platen and slide to movably mount the two together. The document is mounted to the platen and the slide moves along a path guided by the mounting tracks over the document to establish lines for lettering. To position letters for transfer, the document-mounting surface of the platen has vertical lines on it and the slide has an upper edge with a guideline upon it which may be aligned with a guideline below the letters on the dry transfer lettering paper or the top or bottom edges of another row of letters on the paper and with indicia either on the slide or platen. The horizontal position (side-by-side) of the transfer letters is determined by the vertical lines on the platen and the vertical position of the slide.
