ABSTRACT:
A family of lead silicate glasses particularly adapted to drawing of tubing for use in the neck section of a cathode ray tube. The glasses have internal liquidi below 750.degree. C., electrical resistivities over 8.0 ohm-cm (Log R.sub.350.degree. C.) and linear x-ray absorption values of at least 95 cm.sup.-1 at a wavelength of 0.6 Angstrom units. Their compositions consist essentially of, in weight percent as calculated on an oxide basis, 46-51% SiO.sub.2, 0.5-2% Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, 0.3-3% Na.sub.2 O, 9-13% K.sub.2 O, 2.5-6% SrO, 1-4% BaO, 30-33% PbO, 0-2% ZnO and 0.3-1% Sb.sub.2 O.sub.3.
