ABSTRACT:
A lathe1comprises a bed5, a headstock10having a housing13and a support base14, a main spindle11, a first tool rest44, and a second tool rest50. The support base14is formed so as to have a concave portion14aon the upper portion thereof and so that the upper portion protrudes toward the second tool rest50. The tool rest body51of the second tool rest50is configured so as to be movable into and out of a space formed downward from the upper portion of the support base14. The housing13has a holding hole13afor rotatably holding the main spindle11, and installation portions13b. The installation portions13bare supported on the support base14in a state wherein a predetermined clearance is provided between the housing13and the concave portion14a.
