ABSTRACT:
A latching mechanism which is primarily intended for use with hung and sliding window systems. The latching mechanism includes a body10and latch element25, the latch element being moveable between a latching position and a non-latching position. The latch element25is coupled to a slider36which is moveable by an operating slide13mounted with lock furniture11. The slide element13is coupled to the slider36by a lost motion member34which is operable to release a snap hook from engagement with the slider36prior to the slider36being moved from its latching position.
