ABSTRACT:
There is disclosed an improved gaseous discharge display panel device and process of manufacturing same. A large number of cathode substrate electrode and mask structures are printed and fired on a single glass sheet, the electrodes being printed first and dried/cured at a higher temperature than subsequently applied mask and electrical crossovers, which are cured at lower temperatures. Upon completion of fabrication of the electrode and dielectric mask structures and crossover connections, the glass plate is simply scored and separated to provide individual back substrate and electrode mask structures which are then assembled with a like formed annode plate structure. Individual devices are then assembled with use of a seal rod preformed to have a gap in the seal structure and a laser facturable mercury dispensing giver. In forming the devices, the gas is processed through the small gap left in the seal structure and, the gap is closed with a short sealing rod through and about which outgasing and gas filling are formed during the final gasing step. Batch processing of devices in the range of 1000 - 5000 in a relatively short period of time.
