ABSTRACT:
A laser beam machine capable of carrying out proper tracing control with ease. A tracing control circuit of a CNC device executes tracing control upon receiving a tracing start command from a CNC main circuit. Specifically, the control circuit is supplied with a detection signal from a height detector and outputs a drive signal to a motor such that the height of a machining head is kept within a predetermined range. A workpiece detector is provided for detecting the presence or absence of a workpiece at the distal end of the machining head. When the workpiece at the distal end of the machining head drops as the machining operation advances, this is detected by the workpiece detector, which then outputs a detection signal to a tracing interrupt circuit. On receiving the detection signal from the workpiece detector, that is, information indicating that there is no workpiece at the distal end of the machining head, the tracing interrupt circuit outputs a tracing interrupt signal to the tracing control circuit. When supplied with the tracing interrupt signal, the tracing control circuit interrupts the tracing control.
