ABSTRACT:
A lancet removal tool26comprises an elongate hollow body28having an opening32at one end. The opening32is bounded by resilient fingers36which can flex to expand the opening32to engage the body16of the lancet14. Withdrawal of the tool26after engagement with the lancet body16causes the lancet14to be removed from the lancet device. Subsequently, the lancet14can be moved from the opening32into the interior of the tool26. The tool26and the removal procedure enables lancets14to be removed without risk of injury or infection from contact with the contaminated needle18of the lancet14.
