ABSTRACT:
A method of coloring a glass optical structure comprising providing a first glass plate member having a smooth exterior surface and an interior surface, applying a transparent paint layer to said interior surface, providing a clear layer of flowable plastic over said paint layer so that said flowable plastic fills any variations in said paint layer, and prevents optical distortion in said structure, and applying a second glass member having a smooth exterior surface and an interior surface adjacent said flowable layer. In structural form, the optical system comprises a four-layered optical structure. The flowable plastic corrects any optical distortions created by variations in the paint layer.
