ABSTRACT:
A keel assembly for a water craft. The keel assembly has a body having an aerodynamic cross section with a pair of side faces and a leading edge section. A portion of the leading edge section is movable relative to the body. A pair of vanes are spaced from and connected to the leading edge section to be disposed within a flow of water past the body. A pair of arms join the vanes with the portion. Movements of the vanes pivot the portion toward the direction of flow of the water to offset the effects of a negative pressure region occurring at the leading edge section.
