ABSTRACT:
The invention provides isolated nucleic acids from potato encoding LRR polypeptides that confer late blight disease resistance in plants of the Solanaceae family and vectors and transgenic plants comprising the nucleic acids. The invention also provides a method for providing a plant or its progeny with resistance against an oomycete infection by transforming the nucleic acids or the vectors.
