ABSTRACT:
An alcohol fermentation process which eliminates the heat gelatinization process is disclosed. Corn is irradiated with about 10.sup.5 to 10.sup.7 rads of gamma radiation to effect sugar yield, susceptibility to enzymatic hydrolysis of starch, yeast growth, and alcohol production. The irradiated corn is then treated with amylases complex, yeast fermented and distilled into alcohol.
