ABSTRACT:
Optically active iridium complex of the formula I ##STR1## in which the >CH--CH< group contains at least one chiral C atom, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together are unsubstituted or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl substituted --(CH.sub.2).sub.4 -- or R.sup.1 is alkyl, unsubstituted or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl substituted, cycloalkyl, aryl, or aralkyl or alkaralkyl and R.sup.2 is H, X.sup.- is the anion of a monobasic inorganic or organic acid, and Y and Z are each ethylene or Y and Z together are an acyclic or cyclic diene having 6 to 10 c atoms whose diene groups are bonded via 1 or 2 C atoms, are suitable for use as enantioselective homogeneous catalysts.
