ABSTRACT:
Polyvinyl butyral resin containing a modification-promoting amount of up to about 15 mole % ionomeric groups which are preferably the metal sulfonate salt of an aldehyde chemically combined with oxygen atoms of adjacent precursor vinyl alcohol groups. Such resin is prepared from a precursor PVOH containing chemically bound ionic acid groups.
