ABSTRACT:
The present invention provides a novel process for preparing known prostaglandins, particularly 9-deoxo-9-methylene-16,16-dimethyl-PGE.sub.2. This well known and useful prostaglandin is prepared from D-glucose through a series of efficient reactions. Also provided are novel intermediates which are useful for preparation of a wide variety of prostaglandins.
