ABSTRACT:
A broadband light source that is typically a single chip monolithic silicon integrated photonic planar light wave circuit employing an embedded glass channel waveguide system, wherein a part of the waveguide is coiled into a loop having a first and a second input/outputs, and comprises dopants selected from the rare earth elements and transition metals.
