ABSTRACT:
An integrated display called an iconic display is disclosed, which contains an image of the thermodynamic heat transfer process for a pressurized water nuclear power plant from the heat source (the reactor) to the heat sink (the environment). Shown is a main curve comprising a saturated steam line and a saturated water line, superimposed upon which are symbols indicating such operating data as water level and temperatures, and the status of various pumps and valves. By analyzing the graphic presentation and the relationships between the various symbols, the status of the thermodynamic cycle of the plant can be determined and trends monitored. Real time data inputs can be used, or hypothetical situations can be constructed. Illustrated are two actual undesirable plant conditions from nuclear power mishaps which graphically demonstrate the operation and advance in the art set forth in the invention.
