ABSTRACT:
A plug-in data cartridge for a printer or a similar device. The cartridge contains an addressable memory and an address generator. In response to a designation of a starting address, the address generator in the cartridge addresses a sequence of memory locations of the memory which is also in the cartridge so that the data can be supplied to the printer. Because only a few starting addresses need to be designated, a low number of address lines is needed, and the number of pins for plugging in the cartridge can be reduced.
