ABSTRACT:
An intake system of an internal combustion engine having a helically-shaped intake port comprising a substantially straight inlet passage portion and a helical portion. The intake manifold comprises substantially straight manifold branches, each being connected to the corresponding inlet passage portion. The ratio of the sum of the length of the inlet passage portion and the length of the manifold branch to the cross-sectional area of the inlet open end of the inlet passage portion is greater than 0.7 cm.sup.-1.
