A tetrahydrofuran-compound is disclosed herein which is represented by the formula (1) ##STR1## wherein each of X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, Y is a hydrogen atom or a carbonyl group substituted by a lower alkyl group (Y') having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, i.e., an acyl group (--COY'), and
