ABSTRACT:
An inkjet drop ejection apparatus with an actuator for applying an ejection force to ink within the chamber to eject drops from the nozzle; wherein, the actuator is resiliently biased such that during each actuation, the ejection force linearly decreases to zero. By elastically loading the actuator, the force on the actuator is greatest at the beginning of its stroke and falls to zero when it reaches its equilibrium position. Consequently, the acceleration of the ink in the chamber is at a maximum when the actuator is first activated but decreases during the strike resulting in a more uniform ink velocity during the stroke and in turn more uniform ejection characteristics.
