ABSTRACT:
Golf balls are prepared using an injection mold defining a spherical cavity and having a plurality of gates for admitting a molding material into the cavity therethrough. The gates are arranged such that the maximum flow distance that the molding material admitted from each gate moves along the cavity-defining wall may be not greater than .sqroot.3.pi.r/4 wherein r is a radius of the cavity. Golf balls of quality having a cover with a uniform gage of 1 mm or less can be molded without short shots.
