ABSTRACT:
An inflator suitable for use in a curtain air bag system or the like is provided. A first passage37linking an ignition means chamber30and the interior of an inflator housing20is blocked by a first rupturable plate38. The first rupturable plate38is formed integrally with a rod-form member24. When an igniter36is activated, the first rupturable plate38is ruptured, thereby pushing the rod-form member24such that an arrowhead24cof the rod-form member24ruptures a second rupturable plate48. Pressurized gas is then discharged through gas discharge holes46to inflate the air bag.
