ABSTRACT:
A four-cycle, V-type, twin overhead cam outboard motor. The outboard motor is provided with an induction system that is disposed in substantial part in a valley formed between the cylinder banks and which includes an air inlet device that extends along the upper end of the engine and which has its inlet opening facing in a direction opposite to an air inlet opening formed in the protective cowling for assisting in water separation. The induction system includes at least one plenum chamber which serves the intake ports of the engine through tuned runners for improving induction efficiency and tuning the induction system for the desired engine performance.
