ABSTRACT:
1. In a mine of the character disclosed adapted to be planted on the bed of body of water from a surface vessel, the combination of a mine casing, a drag plate for the mine adapted to retard the downward movement thereof as the mine descends through the water, means including a line for detachably securing the drag plate to the casing in such a manner as to cause the casing to be righted during the descent of the mine through the water, and means effective when the mine reaches a predetermined depth of submergence for disconnecting the drag plate from the casing.
