ABSTRACT:
Dialkyl esters of 5-carbo[etiocholane-3'.alpha.-7'.alpha., 12'.alpha.-trihydroxy-17'.beta.(1" methyl-4' butyl]oxy-4-hydroxy-4-methylpentyl-1-phosphonate and 5-carbohexadecyloxy-4-hydroxy-4-methylpentyl-1-phosphonate are shown to inhibit cholesterol biosynthesis in rat liver cells. Preparation of the active compounds is given.
