ABSTRACT:
Method and apparatus for provided for repairing machine drive elements and particularly vehicle flywheels in situ. The apparatus includes a jig assembly mountable on a transmission housing and provided with a supporting surface including a slide mount assembly adapted to receive, in succession, welding and grinding tools for first building up a damaged or broken flywheel tooth, and then grinding the built-up tooth to original specifications. The slide mount assembly permits movement of the tools in two mutually perpendicular directions to permit alignment at the work site. The jig assembly also includes a turning gear designed to mesh with the flywheel for aligning a damaged or broken tooth at the work site.
