ABSTRACT:
A liquid crystal display device (10) includes an upper substrate (12), a lower substrate (14) and a liquid crystal layer (16) interposed between the upper substrate and the lower substrate. A plurality of pixel regions, each pixel region comprising a pixel electrode and a common electrode (148a,148b), for applying a voltage to the liquid crystal layer. Each pixel region includes a reflection region and a transmission region; and all the pixel and common electrodes are positioned at either the upper substrate or the lower substrate. The display working both in reflection mode and transmission mode has a wide view angle.
